Rahul Gandhi would be visiting Krishnagiri

  • AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi is coming to Tamil Nadu on a three-day whirlwind tour from September 8.   • Nagercoil to be attended by youth from Kanyakumari parliamentary constituency. Besides, he would be meeting the youth from fishermen community.
  • A couple of hours later, Rahul Gandhi will be interacting with youth at Tirunelveli. Youths from Tuticorin, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli parliamentary constituencies will take part in this meetingAt 1 pm, he would address the youths from Ramathapuram, Sivaganga, Dindigul, Dindigul and Thenni at Virudhunagar. Later, he would meet the students of Madurai Kamaraj University.
  • He would also participate in the centenary celebrations of late minister Kakkan. Apart from these, he would also address the conference of the SC/ST youths.Giving details about Rahul Gandhi’s tour programme, TNCC president KV Thangkabalu said on September 9, Rahul would be meeting farmers at Thanjavur and later interacting with youth wing cadre at Villupuram.
  • Later, he would be meeting young doctors at Vellore and in the evening, the Congress leader would be interacting with students of Anna University.On the same day, he would take part in the executive committee meeting of the TNCC in Chennai and meet the youth Congress workers at Kamaraj memorial.
  • Rahul Gandhi would be visiting Krishnagiri and Salem and would address a public meeting at Coimbatore.
  • The new membership drive for youth Congress was started on August 20 in Tamil Nadu. Congress functionaries from neighbouring States like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala have already camping various districts of Tamil Nadu to monitor the membership drive.

15 teachers selected for Dr. Radhakrishnan award

Fifteen teachers in Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts have been selected for the Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Best Teacher Award for 2008-09 to be presented by the State Government.

The awardees include teachers of the government higher secondary and panchayat union elementary schools.

The awardees in Dharmapuri district are:

Govindan, Government Higher Secondary School, Pulikarai and Palaniyappan, Post Graduate Assistant,

Adhiyamaan Government Boys Higher Secondary School.

The teachers selected from the panchayat union middle schools are:

Ponni, Sogathur Panchayat; Manoharan, Kuruparapalli Panchayat and Sivaprakasam, Adilam Panchayat.

These teachers will be given the award by the School Education Minister, Thangam Thennarasu, on Saturday.

The awardees in Krishnagiri district are:

S. Varadarajan, Headmaster, Government High Secondary School, N. Vellalapatti; K.V. Srihari, Headmaster Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Royakottai; Shawnawaz Begum, Urdu Pandit, R.V. Government Boys Higher School, Hosur and C. Narendran, Headmaster, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Royakottai.

SHG bags Aavin canteen contract

Contract for canteen in the milk dairy premises of the Dharmapuri District Cooperative Milk Federation in Krishnagiri has been awarded to the Tamizh Mahalir Group, a self-help group operating under the auspices of the NGO Society for Women and Child Development.

The renovated canteen which was closed for some time by the Aavin management was inaugurated by the Collector V.K. Shanmugam here on Thursday.

The self-service canteen will run from 7.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. offering morning tiffin, lunch, and hot beverages with snacks in the evening on dual rate basis.

Food items would continue to be supplied to the employees on subsidised rate and for outsiders at market rate.

It was announced that the SHG will also undertake food orders for outsiders.
