A special team of police and officials from the Forest Department seized 650 kg of red sanders near here on Oct 20

that Prohibition and Enforcement Wing personnel headed by Inspector B.
Sivakumar and the officials from Forest intercepted a SUV with the
Kerala registration number near Kaveripattinam on the National Highway
on suspicion.
As the vehicle did not stop, the officials chased it for
about a km and blocked it. During check, it was found that red sanders
weighing about 650 kg valued over Rs. 2.6 lakh was concealed under the
rear seat.
The vehicle along with the wood was seized. The two occupants of the car A. Anil (38) and A. Umar Farook of Karur were arrested.
