Eight die in Oldpet Krishnagiri firecracker godown accident

 

Nine persons were killed and 11 injured, following a blast at a firecracker godown in Periyapettai in Krishnagiri district on Saturday morning. The owner of the godown, along with his wife and two adult children were among those killed in the accident. The blast was reportedly caused by the explosion of a cylinder at a neighbouring eatery, housed in the same building as the godown.  

The owner of the godown Ravi (42), his wife Jayashree (40), his daughter Rithika (19) and son Rutheesh (21), and the owner of the adjacent eatery Rajeshwari, and two others Ibrahim Kaiyulla (21) and Imran (18) along with an unidentified woman and an unidentified man were killed.

The building that had housed five shops, was reduced to a rubble with a few feared to have been trapped underneath the cement debris.

The district administration swung into action with earth-movers and fire and rescue services to clear up the building rubble and rescue the injured.

Collector Sarayu, who monitored the disaster response on site, later said there was nothing amiss with the functioning of the godown on the commercial street. “I’ve seen the files [of the godown]. The license was issued to it after field inspections,” she said.

“The restaurant, a welding unit, another shop and the godown were in the same building, but the restaurant was not adjacent to the godown. They were separated by two other shops. A preliminary investigation shows that the cylinder blast was heard first, occurring from at the restaurant, and the fire spread later to the other shops as well as the godown. A godown is only a storage place from where sales are permitted, so it is not a manufacturing unit, Ms. Sarayu added.

Earlier, the Collector also visited the government medical college hospital and called on the injured admitted there. She also met with the bereaved relatives of the victims at the hospital.
PM Modi announces relief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives in the accident and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. “Deeply saddened by the tragic mishap at a cracker factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, resulting in the loss of precious lives. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this extremely difficult time,” the PMO said in a tweet.

“May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given ₹50,000: PM @narendramodi,” the tweet said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a visit to Tamil Nadu, too, condoled the death of eight persons.

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi said he was deeply saddened by the loss of valuable lives in the mishap. “My prayers and thoughts are with the bereaved families. Wishing a speedy recovery to those injured,” the Governor said on Twitter.
T.N. CM extends condolences, announces solatium

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin expressed grief over the death of the nine persons and also announced a solatium of ₹3 lakh each to the families of the deceased. In a statement, he also announced a compensation of ₹1 lakh each to those who suffered injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at hospital, and ₹50,000 each for those who sustained minor injuries.

The compensation will be released from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.

The AIADMK’s general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, expressed his condolences and urged the State government to ensure that all safety norms were complied with.

The AMMK general secretary, T.T.V. Dhinakaran, and the AIADMK’s former interim general secretary, V.K. Sasikala, condoled the deaths.

Mr. Stalin said he had sent Tamil Nadu Minister for Food and Civil Supplies R. Sakkarapani to the spot to oversee the relief measures and has also instructed that special care be provided to those who are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Hosur MLA’s son and six others killed in road accident in Bangalore

 The son of a DMK MLA from Tamil Nadu was among seven persons who lost their lives in a road accident at Koramangala in Bengaluru on August 31 morning.

According to the police, three women and four men were travelling in an SUV. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which went over the footpath before hitting the compound wall of a bank.

“The incident occurred around 1.30 a.m. The SUV hit the wall with such intensity and speed that it was completely damaged. Though it was meant to seat five persons, there were seven people in the vehicle. The incident was recorded on CCTV cameras in the area,” said a police officer.

 The deceased included Karunaa Sagar, son of DMK MLA from Hosur Y. Prakash.

According to sources, the group was returning to Hosur in Tamil Nadu after a trip to Bengaluru.

Soon after the accident, employees of a hotel in the vicinity and a few passers-by extricated the passengers from the vehicle before alerting the Adugodi police.

“The passengers were trapped inside the mangled vehicle. Rescuers had to use force to open the doors and get them out. Witnesses saw smoke coming out from the engine. They poured water fearing that the vehicle would catch fire,” said a police source.

According to witnesses, one person appeared to be alive on the way to the hospital. However, all seven were declared dead on arrival.

Senior police officials visited the spot to supervise the investigation.

Water relesed from KRP Dam

The Krishnagiri district administration on Monday started releasing water from KRP (Krishnagiri Reservoir Project) Dam for irrigation.

After opening the sluice gates of the dam, district collector Dr V Jeyachandra Bhanu Reddy said a total of 9,012 acres of agriculture land in 16 villages -- including Periyamuthur, Sundekuppam, Thimmapuram, Soutaalli, Thalialli, Kalvealli, Kundalapatti, Mittaalli, Erraalli, Penneswaramadam, Kaveripattinam, Balekuli, Marichettihalli, Nagojanaalli, Janapparuralli and Paiyur -- would be benefited. Water would be released for next 120 days, he added.

“Currently, a total of 180 cusecs of water is being released into the canals. Right bank canal will get 87 cusecs of water while the Left bank canal will get 93 cusecs of water,” the collector said.

According to him, a total of 4,287 acres in the ayacut of the right main canal and about 4,725 acres in the ayacut of the left main canal would be irrigated.

DMK secures three, AIADMK two seats in Krishnagiri district

 Krishnagiri with its six Assembly constituencies saw Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) securing three seats and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) two seats on Sunday. Uthangarai was poised for AIADMK victory at the time of filing this report.

While the DMK bagged Bargur and Hosur constituencies, Thally was won by its alliance partner Communist Party of India (CPI). The AIADMK secured Vepanapalli and Krishnagiri.

In Thally, CPI candidate T. Ramachandran secured a whopping margin of over 55, 334 votes defeating Bharatiya Janata Party’s C. Nahesh Kumar.

Hosur witnessed a tough contest for the DMK candidate Y. Prakash in the initial rounds even as he led by only a few hundred margin of votes against the AIADMK candidate Jyoti Balakrishna Reddy. However, as rounds progressed, Mr. Prakash widened the numbers winning the seat by 11,149 votes.

Vepanapalli constituency defied projections handing out victory to the AIADMK candidate K. P. Munusamy against the DMK candidate P. Murugan, albeit with only a margin of 3262 votes.

Bargur, seen as an AIADMK forte , was broken into by the DMK candidate D. Mathiazhagan. He fetched a thumping victory by a margin of 12,614 votes for the party and defeated the AIADMK candidate A. Krishnan.

AIADMK was raced to a victory in Uthangarai right from the first round, only increasing the margin of votes by thousands after each round by its candidate T. M. Tamilselvam. DMK candidate S. Arumugam trailed behind after each round. As of round 19, the margin was wide with over 20,000 votes and above.

Trouble brewed in the Krishnagiri constituency’s counting hall late Sunday night, after DMK contested the potential victory of AIADMK candidate K. Ashok Kumar with a margin of just 647 votes.

The sitting MLA and the DMK candidate T. Senguttuvan demanded a recount following which VVPATs were taken out for counting. Finally, Ashok Kumar won the seat.

Krishnagiri district judge’s gunman shoots himself dead at court complex

 A 30-year-old gunman of a district judge shot himself dead at the combined court complex in Krishnagiri. The victim, Anbarasan’s body was found splayed in a pool blood on the stairs of a remote corner of the Court campus by the janitor of the complex on Thursday morning.

Anbarasan had only got married five months ago. According to a special branch police source, Anbarasan and his wife were reportedly going through a rough patch, and his wife was at her maternal home. According to the police, domestic unrest is suspected to be the cause of the apparent suicide. Superintendent of Police Bandi Gangadar visited the scene of the incident here. Anbarasan has been the gunman of the Principal Judicial Magistrate for over four months, the police source said.

Over 16 lakh voters set to cast their votes in Krishnagiri district

 

COVID patients will be allowed to cast their ballots between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m, on the polling day on April 6, here on Tuesday, said Collector V.Jayachandra Bhanu Reddy on Monday.

Speaking to the reporters on the arrangements ahead of the polls as the district’s 16,05,280 voters are set to cast their ballots in the six Assembly constituencies, the Collector said the arrangements have been made in accordance with the orders of the Election Commission of India.

The voters will vote to elect among the 86 candidates for the assembly constituencies.A total of 9,594 EVMs, that include 20% reserve EVMS are being deployed.

The postal ballots for absentee voters over 80 years under Form 12D has been claimed by 2,877 voters. A total of 11,031 polling personnel are deployed for duty, with 2,600 of them availing 2,600 postal ballots.

Seizures

A total of ₹77,27,940 was seized in multiple cash seizures. In addition, 10.55 kg of silver was seized and few hundreds and cookers and hotpacks were also seized. Liquor to the tune of ₹36.69 lakh have also been seized. A total of 11,810 defacements were carried out and 142 cases were filed for Model Code of Conduct violations.

According to the Superintendent of Police Bandi Gangadar, eight companies of police force have been deployed in the district. They include Central Police Force, Tamil Nadu Special Police, local police. Besides, home guards and ex-servicemen totalling about 5,000, have been deployed.

2,766 fake accounts found in Krishnagiri

 As many as 2,766 fake accounts of non-farmer “beneficiaries” have been detected and about ₹1.03 crore has been recovered so far in the scam under the PM-Kisan scheme in the district.

According to official sources, investigations were on, and more information would be available later this week.

As of date, as many as 2,766 fake accounts had been detected in the district, sources said.

The PM-Kisan Scheme was conceived to provide ₹6,000 as income support to farmers annually, and it was to be credited into their accounts in three instalments of ₹2,000 each.

However, it came to light that the password and username of an Agriculture Department official was hacked to include non-farmers as beneficiaries by creating fake accounts.

The total number of fake accounts and the total amount of recovery will come to light once the investigation gets completed, said official sources.

An initiative to boost horticulture

A National Farmers Meet as an interface between farmers, traders and researchers was organised at the Regional Research Station of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University at Paiyyur on Saturday.

The meet on Horticultural Crops 2015, jointly organised under the aegis of TNAU and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, was a first of its kind initiative to boost horticulture and augment value addition to horticultural produce.

Farmers from across the four States of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu participated in the day-long sessions that explored techniques of cultivation and value addition practised in horticulture.

Over 60 scientists from ICAR and TNAU acted as resource persons in the interface on flowers, vegetables, plantation and spices.

The sessions included cultivation aspects of mango that included fruiting, crop regulation, canopy management, spongy tissue, alternate bearing, malformation, pests, diseases and post-harvest handling etc. Similarly, seed production, nutrition, and post-harvest handling for papaya was also discussed.

Focus

Speaking to The Hindu , Prof. Vijay Bhaskaran, Agronomist, Paiyyur Research Station, said the focus was on mango and papaya as the farmers largely from Kolar, Malur and Telengana region cultivated mangoes. Krishnagiri being a significant cultivator of horticultural crops and a reckonable exporter with its hi-tech horticulture, disease, pest and nutrition management of flowers was also a point of focus.

The meet had over 2500 farmers, and horticultural industry persons participating in the day-long sessions.

Stalls put up by ICAR, TNAU and private industrial units included stalls on farm mechanisation, hybrid varieties, and value addition techniques among others.

S. Ayyappan, Director General and Secretary, Directorate of Agriculture and Education, ICAR, was the chief guest.

Man killed by elephant herd in Krishnagiri

A herd of 35 elephants killed a 65-year-old man at Kadur village in Bommathathanur, Denkanikottai, late on Sunday night.

When Govindappa stepped out of his hut on hearing a tamarind tree breaking, he was attacked by the herd.

He was living in the hut with his wife Maari (60) doing farming and rearing livestock for the last three decades.

The body of the deceased was later found badly damaged and the limbs were found a few meters away from the hut.

Govindappa’s death marks the sixth human casualty this year in the Hosur forest range from January. Five persons, including two women, were killed in elephant attacks up to May in the forest range.

An initial assistance of Rs. 25,000 as part of solatium was handed over to the victim’s wife by the Forest Department. A sum of Rs..2.75 lakh will be disbursed to the bereaved wife later.

15 of a family injured in mini bus accident

Fifteen persons who were part of a family were seriously injured when a mini bus went out of control and fell on its side after a front wheel suffered a flat tyre at Mathur on Thursday.

The passengers were travelling from Dharmapuri after attending a family function.

They had set out from Kolandhampalli village in Thirupathur in Vellore to attend a ‘valaikappu’ ceremony.

The injured persons were taken to the Krishnagiri Government Hospital, according to police sources here.

Embryo transfer technology, a success story in Hosur

The district livestock farm produced 53 calves in 2012-13

The Hosur District Livestock Farm (DLF) has produced 53 calves using the embryo transfer technology in association with the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation between May 2012 and December 2013, said D. Saravanan, Head of the Embryo Transfer Laboratory, on Wednesday.

Dr. Saravanan told The Hindu that the technology offers better utilisation of superior germplasm of the female donor cow to produce maximum number of high yielding offspring in short period of time than the artificial insemination followed over the last five decades.

An embryo donor is made to superovulate and bred through the semen of a superior bull. Embryos that are seven to eight days old are collected from the donor cow by non-surgical method and are transferred to the recipient cows, which will develop the foetus. Excess embryos can be stored in frozen state for any number of years for future use. Embryos can also be sexed before being transferred to the recipients.

The DLF along with other agencies and university started embryo production through six Red Sindhi cows from DLF and 50 superior Jersey cross-bred cows from eight districts such as Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Salem, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Madurai and Coimbatore.

Cross-bred, poor milk yielding healthy cows were selected as recipients to carry embryos of the donor cows till parturition. Before the embryos were donated to the cows, they were screened for infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, brucellosis and Johne’s disease. So far, 271 embryos have been collected from 56 cows. These embryos were transferred to 257 recipient cows. Sixty-seven cows became pregnant and 53 calves (28 bull and 25 heifer calves) were born through embryo transfer technology. In Salem, two embryos were transferred to a cow and it delivered twin calves. In Namakkal and Tiruvannamalai, five calves were born through the embryo transfer technology.

The farmers receive incentives according to the number of embryos collected from their cows. The owners of donor cows were given an incentive of Rs.5000 per flushing, and Rs.1000 for every additional good quality embryo collected. A maximum of Rs.21,000 was given as incentive to a farmer in Salem, whose cow gave 21 good quality embryos. A total of Rs.3.65 lakh was given to 53 farmers, who gave their cows for embryo collection. Owners of the donor cows were given 90 kg of concentrated feed free of cost. The owners of recipient cows were given 30 kg of concentrated feed and an embryo from a superior germplasm free of cost. If the cow becomes pregnant, an additional 250 kg of concentrated feed was given to the owner of the recipient cow during the last trimester of pregnancy. If the cow delivers a bull calf, the animal husbandry department will purchase it from the farmer for Rs.5000 within 15 days after its birth. If a heifer (female) calf is born, the farmer can retain it .The animal husbandry department has purchased 22 bull calves from the farmers.

For the conservation and propagation of Red Sindhi breed of cattle, which is an indigenous milch breed in the list of threatened Indian breeds, embryos of pure Red Sindhi cows and bulls were collected and transferred to cross-bred cows at District Livestock Farm, Hosur. Fifteen recipient cows are pregnant now, which are due for calving in the month of September 2014. Embryos of Red Sindhi cows were also kept under frozen state for future transfer.

During the phase-I of the Embryo Transfer Technology, the DLF was funded to the tune of Rs. 50 lakh by the National Project for Cattle and Buffalo Breeding (NPCBB) through the Tamil Nadu Livestock Development Agency

In Phase - II of the Embryo Transfer programme, animal husbandry department plans to conduct embryo flushings in 200 donor cows at four of its livestock farms and in 10 districts of Tamil Nadu with an aim to produce at least 300 calves and the NPCBB has sanctioned a fund of Rs. 2.5-crore for the project, Dr. Saravanan adds.

A case has been registered against eleven persons for extracting blue-metal on Government land in Jagadap village in Kaveripattinam panchayat on Saturday.Police sources said that on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Village Administrative Officer Annamalai, the Kaveripattinam police have filed a case against eleven persons. Further investigations are on.

Accident

One person was killed and two others sustained grievous injuries in an accident near Krishnagiri toll gate on Sunday morning.Police sources said that the accident took place when Jawahar Ali (43) running a mutton shop in Shoolagiri was going to the shop in a bike along with his son Zia Ulla (17) and an employee Amanulla (25). The bike was hit by an unidentified vehicle. Jawahar Ali died on the spot, while the two others who sustained injuries were admitted at the Government Headquarter’s Hospital in Krishnagiri. Krishnagiri taluk police have registered a case and are investigating.

Two officials arrested for fraud

Annual audit of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Bank showed irregularities

Two officials of a Primary Agricultural Cooperative Bank (PACB), Ponneri near Harur were arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of the Dharmapuri police on the charges of defrauding to the tune of Rs. 31.60-lakh in extending jewellery loan for imitation jewellery here on Saturday .

The two officials were placed under suspension immediately.

The fraud came to light during the annual audit of the PACB, which prompted the farmers to lay siege to the bank.

The officials along with the Harur M.L.A. P. Dillibabu rushed to spot, pacified the farmers to disburse assuring them of remedial action.

Two officials secretary of the bank were placed under suspension immediately by the Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies.

It was found that Rs. 31.60 lakh was given as gold loan for pledging 200 g of imitation jewellery.

It was found that gold appraiser C. Suresh alias Samy of S. Pudupatti, who was working on commission basis, indulged in the malpractice.

Of the total Rs. 31.60 lakh, Rs. 13 lakh was recovered from the appraiser.

With a view to recover the balance amount, his bank accounts were freezed and some land documents were also seized from him.

Based on a complaint lodged by the Cooperative Department, the Economic Offences Wing of the district police arrested T. Jayanthi, Secretary and N. Murugan, the Cashier.

Welcoming the legal action, Mr. Dillibabu demanded a thorough probe into the functioning of all PACBs in the district.

The malpractice detected in PACB here was only a tip of an iceberg and more such malpractices might come to light if a thorough enquiry was ordered, he said. Mr. Dillibabu also submitted a petition to the Collector K. Vivekanandan in this regard.

Mr. Babu said that he was also concerned over delayed action though the culprits were caught red handed by the officials. Delayed action is delayed justice, he said.

He demanded that the District Collector should intervene in this matter and recover the defrauded amount through auctioning of the properties of the persons involved.

Police launched a manhunt for the appraiser C. Suresh alias Samy of S. Pudupati village.

Arrested officials were produced before a local court and were remanded in judicial custody.

In another incident, three persons including the Secretary Venkatesan, Senior Clerk Anandan and Clerk Rajendra Varman were arrested for defrauding Rs. 19.50-lakh in Cooperative society in Krishnagiri.

They were involved in malpractices including creating bogus documents for leave encashment for workers and showing increased sale in books of accounts to the tune of Rs. 19.50 lakhs at the Chennasandiram Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society near Veppanahalli.

On the basis of complaints lodged by the Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, the Economic Offences Wing of the district police arrested the trio and remanded them to judicial custody.

Skill development training for differently abled

As many as 30 differently-abled persons are being given skill development training in repairing electrical appliances under the Pudhu Vazhvu Thittam, a livelihood programme for the poor and downtrodden, in Krishnagiri district.

One of the beneficiaries, A. Mehaboob Basha (28), a physically-challenged, said that the field staff of the programme motivated him to join the programme.

The 45-day training programme that started on June 4 will end on July 25. The participants will also be given training in cycle repairing, and wiring.

The training was given at a subsidised rate of Rs. 250 for the entire programme while usually the participants had to pay 10 per cent of the total fee charged by the company, said G. Kumaran, District Project Officer, Pudhu Vazhvu Thittam.

Participants like P. Thimmaraj (22) of Pukkasagaram, a physically-challenged, and M. Gangaraj (37), a visually-impaired from Athetti, are hopeful of starting their own shops.

The Pudhu Vazhvu Thittam is being implemented in 178 village panchayats in five panchayat unions in the district with the aim of improving the livelihood of the poor, differently abled, widows and orphaned women.

Mr. Kumaran said that so far 3,621 poor and downtrodden people were given training in DTP/Tally, tailoring, driving, beautician courses among others. Another batch of 30 students would finish the training in Uthangarai in another five days. The third batch would begin in Thally soon.

SBI donates ambulance to hospital

The State Bank of India donated an ambulance to Saint Louise Hospital in Krishnagiri recently.

CSR initiative

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the bank donated the ambulance worth Rs. 10 lakh to the hospital on behalf of the SBI’s main branch in Krishnagiri. The key was handed over to the hospital administrator F.S.M. Sowmya by M. Vijaykumar, regional manager, State Bank of India’s Regional Business Office (RBO) V, functioning under the Chennai Zone I.

H. Devaraj, chief manager, Administration of SBI’s RBO V, and N. Arumugam, chief manager, Krishnagiri main branch, were present. During the last financial year, the bank donated ceiling fans, Reverse Osmosis plants and solar lamps to schools located in villages around Krishnagiri 

Girl killed in accident

A two-year-old girl was killed after she was hit by a school van near Mathur in Krishnagiri district on Wednesday morning.

Police sources said that S. Haripriya was hit by a van belonging to a private matriculation school .

The incident took place when her mother S. Nandini was taking her elder child to the school van . It was alleged that neither the mother nor the driver noticed the victim going near the rear wheel of the vehicle. 

The girl was hit by the mud guard of the rear wheel when the driver started moving the vehicle. The girl sustained head injury during her fall and died on the spot. Mathur police have registered a case under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of Indian Penal Code. The driver of the bus S. Madhu (30) of Narapandaalli in Tirupattur taluk in Vellore district was arrested. Further investigations are on.

Cash prize for toppers

The children of ex-servicemen who had scored over 1150 marks in Plus-Two examinations and above 450 marks in SSLC will be awarded cash prize by Krishnagiri Collector T.P. Rajesh.

A release from the Collector said that first three toppers in Plus-Two would get Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000 respectively, and for SSLC the prize would be Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,000 respectively .

The students are advised to apply with their marksheets and relevant details of their claim as wards of ex-servicemen on or before June 13.

Jamabandhi begins at five taluks in Krishnagiri district

Jamabandhi, the annual auditing of village land accounts, began in Krishnagiri, Uthangarai, Hosur, Denkanikottai and Pochampalli taluks in Krishnagiri district on Tuesday. It will be held till June 20.

Mr. Rajesh will be conducting the Jamabandhi at Hosur taluk office, District Revenue Officer P. Balasubramanian at Uthangarai, Hosur Sub Collector Praveen P. Nair at Denkanikottai, Revenue Divisional Officer V. Latha at Krishnagiri and District Backward Class Welfare Officer at Pochampalli taluk.

During the process, the public residing in the five taluks can approach the officials for patta, name change in patta, old age pension, farmer’s identity cards, widow’s pension, assistance to agriculture labourers and other issues related to the Revenue Department.

Petitions

Inaugurating the Jamabandhi at Hosur Taluk Office, Mr. Rajesh said that immediate action would be taken against petitions submitted by the public.

On petitions related to critical or problematic issues, action would be taken as early as possible.

As the Jamabandhi officer, Mr. Rajesh received 270 petitions at Hosur taluk office.

Implement rail link

Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda was urged to implement the much awaited 101 km long new railway line between Hosur-Jolarpet to cater to the needs of 30 lakh people living in Krishnagiri district.

In this connection, C. Narasimhan, Former Krishnagiri M.P. and front-line leader in BJP submitted a memorandum to the minister recently. He said that many people would be benefitted by the project.

Summer camp from May 14

A 10-day summer camp for children aged between 5 and 16

will be held on the premises of the District Music School on Old Bangalore Road here from May 14 to 23.

The camp is being organised by the Jawahar Balabhavan under the Department of Culture of the State 

Government. Children will be taught Bharatanatyam, vocal, drawing and yoga from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Interested parents could enrol their children by paying a registration fee of Rs. 50. Children will be given participation certificates.
