A gang of four was arrested by a special team of police
in connection with the theft of bronze idols from Hosur in Krishnagiri
district on Sunday night.
A police official told
The Hindu
that the four persons were held when they were about to sell a bronze
Ambal idol. The idol was seized from the gang. Inquiry revealed that the
gang stole four bronze idols from Vaitheeswaran temple in Omalur in
Salem district in November last and were bargaining with few buyers.
Omalur police had already registered a case on November 3, 2013.
Three
idols are yet to be recovered. The arrested persons were G. Ramesh (40)
and P. Arul (33) of Bargur in Krishnagiri district, T. Mohan Kumar (40)
of Attaiyampatti and Balaji (30) of Omalur in Salem district.
