4,643 beneficiaries in two districts
As many as 4,643 beneficiaries were given free home
appliances worth Rs. 1.67 crore at various places in Krishnagiri and
Dharmapuri districts on Sunday, says press releases issued from the
respective Collectorates.
A release from the
Krishnagiri Collectorate said that the Minister for Municipal
Administration, Rural Development, Prisons, Law and Justice, K.P.
Munusamy, distributed free home appliances worth Rs. 93.72 lakh to 2,343
beneficiaries in Upparapatti and Pavakkal villages in Uthangarai taluk.
Earlier,
the Minister also dedicated two community halls constructed in
Andheripatti village and Valipatti village in Mathur block under the MLA
Local Area Development Fund for the years 2011-12 and 2012-13.
Dedicating
the community halls, Mr. Munusamy said that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa
introduced the Tamil Nadu Village Habitations Improvement (THAI) scheme
for the overall development of the rural areas which includes improving
roads, drinking water facilities etc.Krishnagiri Collector T.P. Rajesh
presided over the functions.
In Dharmapuri, the
Minister for Higher Education, P. Palaniappan, gave away free home
appliances worth Rs. 73.40 lakh to 1,770 beneficiaries at Thadangam in
Dharmapuri taluk and to 530 beneficiaries in Pannikulam in Harur taluk.
Earlier,
the Minister also inaugurated laying of B.T. Road from
Konanginayakkanaalli Panchayat for a distance of 1.20 km at an estimated
cost of Rs. 24.60 lakh.The functions were presided over by District
Collector K. Vivekanandan. Former Minister K.P. Anbazhagan, Harur MLA
Dillibabu, District Revenue Officer P. Ramar among others participated, a
release from DIPR said.
